Around 01:00 pm, after a long flight, I finally arrived at Cape Town International Airport. My first impression? It’s amazing!
From there it was a 30-minute drive to “The Backpack”, which is the hostel we were staying at. The drive took us trough different townships on either side of the road. These townships consisted of shacks made of corrugated iron to more western concrete buildings. The closer you got to the city center, the higher the welfare and the influence of the west. It is really impressive.
The backpack is really nice hostel, great rooms, lovely staff, a swimming pool and great South African wine.
After exploring the hostel and a quick dip in the pool we went for dinner to Shimmy’s Beach Club. A great looking restaurant and club with a swimming pool on the beach! Unfortunately the swimming pool was already closed when we arrived. However the food was amazing. I wonder if the food will be this lovely everyday.
